I taught drawing to the blind
at the Deaf and Blind school in Hampton Va

The students in the drawing class were legal blind
but not completely blind.
They just put the paper closer to their eyes when
they drew.

We did lots of the usual gesture drawing
and the regular stuff of Drawing 1.

One guy said he doesn't know what i did but he learning to draw better

and he ended up panting a mural on the gym wall,
foot ball players I think.

I also taught art to the completely blind
it was hard to tell them

to put the work over there, etc.
My mistake.
They didn't know where i meant but eventually
i showed em what i meant and we did
sculpture,
mostly free form stuff.

One kid said
"Oh, I get it. Its mobility for the hands"
and we had fun.
And touched lots of stuff

The kids would run down the halls full spread
as if they forgot they couldn't see.

One kid use to beat me at the toy game
where it lights up and makes a sound when you remembered the right order.

You have to repeat the order of the machine.
Anyway, he beat me
and said "And you know I am blind!"

as if i didn't know.
