This sculpture was one of 55 works selected by jurors,  Jan van der Marck, Richard Anuszkiewicz, and Marisol in the outrageously small 1965 Michigan Biennial Exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts.  The juror's arwarded it a prize for "an original approach to sculpture.  The sculpture is the third in a series of works Pallas called "Side Walkers" inspired by denizens of the Detroit's Cass Corridor where he lived.  Below are some other  sculptures in this series .
